U.S. utility-casting RFQs typically reference ASTM language for material and test requirements, AASHTO language for load and traffic context, and a local public-works standard plan (SPPWC, MUTCD agency plans, or city standard plans) for dimensions and details. ASTM
ASTM A536 — Ductile Iron
All ductile iron castings are produced to ASTM A536 Grade 65-45-12 (equivalent to QT500-7 in the GB/T metric system). Mechanical properties: 65 ksi tensile, 45 ksi yield, 12% elongation. Spectroscopy chemistry and mechanical test records prepared per RFQ.
ASTM A123 — Hot-Dip Galvanizing
Drainage grates and frames ship hot-dip galvanized per ASTM A123 for storm-environment corrosion resistance. Galvanizing test records on request.
ASTM A36 — Carbon Steel Frames
Hot-rolled steel grate frames specified per ASTM A36 when ductile iron frame is not required. Material certs supplied with shipment.
AASHTO
AASHTO H-20 / HS-20
The standard U.S. highway design load — 16,000 lb wheel load, 32,000 lb axle. Our traffic-rated covers and grates are rated H-20 or above. HS-20 (32,000 lb wheel load) covers available for highway and freight applications.
AASHTO M306 — Proof Load Testing
Manhole frame and cover sets are proof-load tested per AASHTO M306 (40,000 lb minimum for H-20 / D400, 90,000 lb for E600). Test reports prepared per project specification.
EN 124 — International Reference
Class A15 / B125 / C250 / D400 / E600 / F900 ratings map approximately to U.S. AASHTO load contexts (D400 ≈ H-20, E600 ≈ HS-20 heavy duty). Useful when an RFQ references both standards.

Drawings & Dimensional Confirmation
Production drawings reviewed against the project specification or SPPWC plan reference. Marking and dimensional confirmation before production release.
Submittal Package
Catalog pages, data sheets, test information, marking confirmation, and clarification responses prepared for contractor, distributor, or utility review.
