Built to
  • · AASHTO M306 (proof-load tested)
  • · EN 124 (composite reference)

Built to U.S. composite-cover requirements and tested per AASHTO M306. Falls under the lower (~7.5%) Section 301 tariff schedule vs ductile iron (~25%) — meaningful per-unit savings on bulk imports.

Key Features

Why specify this

  • ZERO scrap metal value — eliminates copper-style theft incentive
  • 60% lighter than ductile iron — one-person service, lower injury risk
  • 100% corrosion-proof — sewer gas, coastal salt, chemicals, de-icing brine
  • Non-conductive and non-magnetic — safe for electrical and telecom vaults
  • Signal-transparent — ideal for AMR / AMI smart-meter wireless reads
  • UV stable — no degradation in direct sunlight
Overview

Composite covers solve the two failure modes ductile iron can’t: theft and corrosion. With zero scrap-metal value, they remove the financial incentive that drives the chronic theft of metal covers — a recurring cost for utilities nationwide. The BMC/SMC matrix is immune to the sewer-gas, coastal-salt, and chemical exposure that gradually eats iron over time, so service life in aggressive environments is dramatically longer.

For electrical, telecom, and smart-water vaults, the non-conductive and signal-transparent properties are decisive. Wireless AMR/AMI meter reads pass cleanly through the lid, and there’s no risk of stray current paths. Tariff classification is also more favorable than for ductile iron under current U.S. Section 301 schedules.

Tested per AASHTO M306 load requirements. Custom lettering, ID tags, and color tints available per RFQ.
